Nightbirde – It is OK not to be OK!
I came across Jane Marczewski, a singer goes by the name Nightbirde on 09 June 2021. I remembered the date very clearly because it was one of those moments where you would completely stop everything you were doing when she performed. Nightbirde’s original song, “It’s OK” – a story about the last year of her life in 2021.
Nightbirds’s heartfelt performance was breath taking, her voice was beautiful, full of positive emotion. She spoke in a soft and optimistic tone and casually told her story. She had such a stunning smile, tanned, and healthy glow on her. Nobody could have known that she was 30 years old with 2% chance of survival, she had lung, spine, and liver cancer at the time; she lived, and fought with them for the past 3 years.
I’ve never met her, but I followed her story and music ever since her performance. Her positive outlook and optimism had connected and inspired millions of people with her messages of faith and never give up:
“You can’t wait until life is not hard anymore before you decide to be happy.”
“I have the 2% chance of survival but 2% is not 0%, 2% is something.”
Nightbirds passed away 4 days ago, 19 February 2022. She didn’t lose her battle with cancer. She won! She didn’t wait around until her life got easier, she embraced what came her way with a “keep going” mindset. She continued to be happy and carried on with her life and music, she let her emotion flow freely. Her and her music had inspired millions of people that it is ok to feel how you feel, it is alright to feel a little lost, we are all humans with emotions but never give up easily, don’t look back and keep moving forward positively and be happy. It is ok to not to be ok in every single way!
